TUAO, Cagayan — Itawes National High School (INHS) held its Brigada Eskwela 2025 School-Based Kick-Off Program on June 9, 2025, at 7:30 A.M. in the school gymnasium, with the theme "Sama-sama para sa Bayang Bumabasa," which focused on unity and helping students improve their reading skills.
The program reminded everyone in the community to help prepare the school before classes begin for the School Year 2025-2026 on June 16.
“Let’s always strengthen the spirit of bayanihan and volunteerism,” said Gemma Serrano, the Brigada Eskwela Chairman of INHS, in her statement of purpose, encouraging everyone to work together and help each other at activities like this.
On the other hand, according to the school principal, Dr. Rolan Catubag, this year, Brigada Eskwela focused not only on cleaning and organizing, but also on helping students improve their reading skills.
“Ang ating Brigada Eskwela ay hindi lang sa paglilinis, hindi lang sa pagkukumpuni, kun' 'di ito ay focused sa reading,” he said.
Additionally, the program was supported by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), barangay officials, government agencies, teachers, Supreme Secondary Learners Government (SSLG) Officers, Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) Officers, students, and most importantly, the Rural Bank of Angeles (RBA) which donated cleaning supplies and snacks, showing their generosity for this year’s Brigada Eskwela.
The united presence and support of the aforementioned groups symbolized the school’s strong commitment to the goals of the annual preparation activity.
Furthermore, the Brigada Eskwela volunteers were commended for their dedication in preparing the school for the upcoming school year.
The program concluded successfully, demonstrating the strong support of teachers, parents, students, and community members who worked hand-in-hand with one another.
