INHS promotes food, nutrition security, holds Nutrition Month Culmination

TUAO, Cagayan — Itawes National High School (INHS) community gathered for the Nutrition Month Celebration today, July 31, and filled the event with engaging and educational activities to promote health and proper nutrition, and food and nutrition security among students.

The celebration featured major activities: the NutriQuiz Bee, NutriJingle, NutriVlog competition, Cook Fest, Poster Making, and Slogan Making with each event showing the importance of a balanced diet, healthy lifestyle, and nutritional awareness.

The day began with the Cook Fest, students impressed the judges with their nutritious and flavorful dishes using local ingredients; Grade 9 took the championship title, while Grade 10 came in second, and Grade 7 in third.

In the NutriQuiz Bee, where students showcased their knowledge on nutrition and health through a friendly quiz competition, participants answered questions about proper diet, food groups, and nutritional guidelines; grade 10 emerged as the champion, followed by Grade 12 in second place, and Grade 11 in third.

Moreover, students presented their talents in the Nutri Jingle contest with each grade level performing creative dance routines while singing original jingles focused on the importance of good nutrition and healthy habits; grade 7 claimed the championship, with Grade 11 placing second and Grade 10 in third.

Students then presented short video vlogs for the NutriVlog contest, discussing the significance of Nutrition Month; Grade 12 won the championship, followed by Grade 9 in second place, and Grade 8 in third.

Meanwhile, in the Poster Making Contest, which was held on July 30, students from Cluster A and Cluster B displayed their artistic talents in promoting this year’s nutrition theme.

In Cluster A, Grade 8 was declared champion, followed by another Grade 8 entry in second place, and Grade 9 in third while in Cluster B, Grade 11 earned the championship, Grade 12 placed second, and Grade 10 came in third.

The Slogan Making Contest, which happened on the same day as the poster making contest, also highlighted the students’ creativity and awareness through impactful messages. 

For Cluster A, the winners were Grade 9, Grade 8, and Grade 7 and for Cluster B, the winners were Grade 12, Grade 11, and another entry from Grade 12.

The event successfully raised awareness on proper nutrition and provided an opportunity for students to express their creativity while learning.

On another note, the Nutrition Month event was oversaw by the TLE Department of INHS, preparing and making sure the event will come to success. 

The celebration of Nutrition Month served not only as a fun and educational experience but also as a reminder of the importance of making informed food choices every day.
